For over 100 years, Shun has been handcrafting cutlery according to the tradition of the legendary samurai of Japan. The epitome of Japanese craftsmanship carried out with the highest degree of precision.
The Premier Nakiri Knife is a bladed beauty. Quite simply, “nakiri” is Japanese for “vegetable knife.” The blade features an eye catching, yet practical shape, and is crafted from Shun’s proprietary VG-MAX super steel. Plus, the blunt tip means it’s safer to use in the kitchen, without sacrificing any of the slicing and dicing power.
The straight blade, edge and spine requires the push cut method, by moving the knife down and forward, while keeping the edge parallel to the cutting surface. The hammered tsuchime finish acts like a series of hollow-ground cavities to reduce drag. The handle nestles comfortably in the hand, while the embossed end cap adds balance and detail.
Each knife takes 100 handcrafted steps to complete and Shun’s materials are among the most advanced in the industry.
